YOUTH
Resources and materials for the youth (age 14-25) and how to engage them in Krishna conscious activities.
For Srila Prabhupada, the youth would do anything. They gave their lives for Srila Prabhupada, were fully committed to the mission and were always happy to take on responsibility. One reason this may have been the case, apart from Srila Prabhupada’s transcendental nature, is the fact that what Srila Prabhupada was engaging the youth in was so exciting and revolutionary.
The youth are always looking for something new, new experiences and new ways to have fun. If the activities with the youth group are dynamic then naturally the youth will be inclined to commit themselves in order to have the best experience possible.
The youth will often need a lot of encouragement to commit themselves and take on responsibility also. This is where a mentorship system or a system of care helps greatly.
As well as the association of senior devotees, association with peers and other members of the youth group is incredibly powerful. The youth, devotees or not, always want to come together and do something together and in the youth group a simple sanga can satisfy these needs.
If the youth are getting regular association of senior devotees that they have personal relationship with, this will certainly encourage them in their services and Krishna Consciousness as they will want to follow in the footsteps of such devotees. When these senior devotees are an example of committing their lives to Krishna Consciousness, then this will certainly encourage others to commit themselves, as they can see the effects of a life in Krishna Consciousness.
Simply arranging for the youth to sing kirtan together, discuss the philosophy together and take prasadam together will always inspire them in their Krishna Consciousness. As well as this developing a focus on preaching the philosophy together will constantly inspire the youth.

ISKCON Youth Manual
This document is intended for anyone wanting to start a Krishna Conscious youth group and is based on the activities of ISKCON Pandava Sena UK. It is far from the perfect guide book, but the aim was to include the necessary information to formulate a youth group that is sustainable and will grow to become a substantial part of Srila Prabhupada’s mission to spread Lord Chaitanya’s mercy across the whole world.

KEEPING THE YOUTH ENGAGED
In summary, there are many ways in which to inspire the youth to take on more responsibility and commit themselves in Krishna Consciousness. Some of the key aspects could be: “To engage the youth in dynamic and exciting services” – “Allow the youth to get regular association of devotees that have dedicated their lives to Krishna Consciousness” – “Arrange for the youth to regularly gain each other’s association” – “Imbibe the principle of ‘People over projects’ and focus on every individual”
