BHAGAVAD GITA READING
One of the most essential practices of all Vaisnavas is the study of Bhagavad Gita. We should read Bhagavad Gita regularly, with full attention and an open heart.“If one reads Bhagavad-gita very sincerely and with all seriousness, then by the grace of the Lord the reactions of his past misdeeds will not act upon him.” – Krishna Dvapayana Vyasa (the literary incarnation of Sri Krishna, compiler of the Vedas)
Srila Prabhupada writes that the Bhagavad-gītā is a treatise which is especially meant for the devotee of the Lord and it is best understood by those who have qualities similar to Arjuna’s.
The purpose of Bhagavad-gītā is to deliver mankind from the nescience of material existence. Bhagavad Gita was spoken by Sri Krishna Himself. It is the conversation between the Lord and His dear friend Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra.
It should be accepted in a spirit of devotion. Unless one reads the Bhagavad-gītā in a submissive spirit, it is very difficult to understand the Bhagavad-gītā, because it is a great mystery.

FIVE BASIC TRUTHS
“The subject of the Bhagavad-gītā entails the comprehension of five basic truths.
First of all, the science of God is explained, and then the constitutional position of the living entities, the jīvas.
There is īśvara, which means the controller, and there are jīvas, the living entities which are controlled. If a living entity says that he is not controlled but that he is free, then he is insane. The living being is controlled in every respect, at least in his conditioned life. So, in the Bhagavad-gītā the subject matter deals with the īśvara, the supreme controller, and the jīvas, the controlled living entities
